Joyce Ballou, 77, of Smithfield passed away on Tuesday, April 30, at the Greenville Center with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Louis (Bud) Ballou.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Ruth (Leeming) Dailey, and a stepmother to the late James (Jimmy) Ballou. She lived in Cumberland for most of her life before moving to Smithfield in 2006. Joyce was employed by Carol Cable for 30 years, her greatest accomplishment in her career was locating and arranging for miles and miles of cable to be shipped to Ground Zero for the search and rescue effort on 9/11. Joyce was always willing to help her family and friends when needed, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Schofield) Plamondon and her husband, Kevin of Greenville; two stepdaughters Christine Summerly of Pawtucket and Lori Carr of Cumberland; grandchildren Ashley, Bobby, Steven, Tyler, Kaitlyn along with her most cherished great granddaughter Lily. Joyce also leaves behind her brothers, Jack Dailey of Michigan and Dennis and Mark Dailey both of Cumberland along with several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was laid to rest in a private burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Donations can be made in Joyce's memory to the Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd, East Providence, RI 02914.
